Cut Flower Care Tips

Longer Lasting Flower Power!

1. Snip the stems

Use sharp, clean kitchen snips or pruning shears to cut flower stem ends at an angle before giving them a fresh drink of water.

Trim about 1-2 inches every few days for optimal hydration with fresh, clean water.

2. Remove lower leaves

Before placing cut stems in clean water and vessels, be sure to remove any leaves or foliage that fall below the water line.

This helps prevent bacterial growth in water and keeps flowers looking vibrant.

3. Flower food and water

Fill a clean vase with room temperature water and flower food (read instructions), or try 2 tablespoons each of apple cider vinegar and sugar mixed into the water.

Replace with fresh water and flower food every 2-3 days in a clean vase.

4. More tips for happier flowers

Avoid placing cut flower stems in heated areas, direct sunlight, hot windowsills, or near drying fans and AC/heating vents.

Keep cut flowers away from ripening fruits, which emit ethylene gas and can cause buds to remain closed, petals to have poor color, and flowers to have a shortened vase life.
